GIRO D’ITALIA – ETAPA 10

TORTORETO-ITALIA  (PrensaMare)  Tras una jornada de descanso, se corrió la Etapa 10 (Lanciano-Tortoreto), de 177 km en el llano, donde Peter Sagan logró un gran triunfo.

El lunes se realizaron 571 test PCR para comprobar que todos los miembros de la carrera daban resultados negativos en coronavirus. Pero 2 ciclistas y 6 componentes de los equipos dieron positivo y fueron aislados de sus compañeros.

Michael Matthews (del Sunweb) y Steven Kruijswijk (del Jumbo Visma), junto a 4 miembros del Mitchelton Scott, otro del AG2R La Mondiale y otro del Ineos Grenadiers fueron positivos. Los 8 se encuentran tratados y aislados.

De esta forma, las escuderías Mitchelton-Scott y Jumbo Visma se retiraron de la competencia. El australiano Matthews es asintomático. Kruijswijk –de Países Bajos- era un gran protagonista situándose a solo 1 minuto y 24 segundos (11°) del líder en la general.

La etapa contó con 4 trepadas no muy extensas, pero de pendientes; la última con un 7%. Se bordeó el mar Adriático, pasando por Marina di San Vito, Francavila al Mare, Chieti, Montesilvano, Giulianova, Colonnella y Tortoreto. Al final hubo un circuito: Tortoreto-Martinsicuro-Colonnella-Controguerra-Corropoli-Tortoreto y arribo al Bv. Per Tortoreto Lido.

Etapa -ideal para los velocistas-, en los Abruzzos. Arranque sin novedades, y cumplidos 15 km no hubo fugas. En el km 30, Simone Ravanelli, Simon Clarke, Ben Swift, Marco Mathis y Matthias Brandle, se escapan y trata de alcanzarlos Mikkel Bjerg.

En el km 42 se despegan –poco- del pelotón: Ravanelli, Andrea Vendrame, Jhonatan Restrepo, Josef Cerny, Clarke, Brandle, Swift y Bjerg. Al pasar por Chieti (50 km corridos), marchan cabeza a cabeza Peter Sagan y Felippo Sagan.

A 70 km del arribo, el grupo líder (de 7 ciclistas) aventajaba por algo más 4 minutos al grupo perseguidor. Restando 58 km se hizo presente la lluvia, y el grupo perseguidor logró acrcarse a 3’ 55’’. Restando 20 km los perseguidores se acercaron a solo 1 minuto y medio. Faltando 10 km el grupo estaba a 20 segundos de los líderes, corriendo en un suelo peligroso a causa de la lluvia (mientras que el español Bilbao se había ‘despegado’ y se ubicaba a 15’’ de la cabeza de la etapa). Peter Sagan comenzó los últimos 5 km con una pequeña ventaja sobre el resto, y fue inalcanzable (tras 4h 01’ 57’’).

Respecto a Clasificación por Puntos (Ciclamino): 1°) Arnaud Demare (Francia, 167 puntos), 2°) Peter Sagan (Eslovaquia, 147), 3°) Filippo Ganna (51), 4°) Almeida (41), y 5°) Davide Ballerini (Italia, 40).

Los datos de interés de la décima etapa fue que comenzó con 15 bajas: los 8 corredores del Jumbo, los 5 que quedaban en carrera del Mitchelton, Matthews (del Sunweb), y Lawson Craddock (del Education First). Lanzaron 145 de los 176 que comenzaro el Giro, el 3 de octubre en Sicilia. A 7,5 km de la llegada, Fuglsang –ante problemas en su bicicleta- se la cambió a un compañero de su equipo.

 

Dopo una giornata di riposo si è svolta la 10a tappa (Lanciano-Tortoreto), 177 km in pianura, dove Peter Sagan ha ottenuto un grande trionfo.
